Happy Halloween!

Al made the costume all by himself and it's great! Stay tuned for pix of both kids in costume tonight.

More Chavie to love

She only gets cuter.

Linebacker

There was a story in yesterday's Times about a 300 lb. girl who is a really good football player. I wonder what Chava's future holds.

Happy Retirement, Lou!

On Saturday night, we took Lou out to dinner to celebrate his retirement (well, actually, we were supposed to take Lou out, be he sneakily wound up taking us out). Madeline and Maddox had a sleepover which went very well - I think we have more of those in our future!

Go figure

Chava will not eat oatmeal. Or hamburger, or turkey or chicken. She will not eat cantelope, or mango, or sweet potato or applesauce. Do not give her carrots, or cucumber, eggs or avacado.

But she will take the toilet paper off the holder and bite a chunk right out of it.

(Sorry for the crappy picture quality. If anyone has any tips on how to take a close up of a white roll of toilet paper with a self-focusing digital camera, let me know.)

Bye Bye Baby

I have to catch myself when I start thinking down the road of, "It's such a pain Chava can't___________." The reality is that her babyhood is dwindling, and soon I will miss having such a chubby, cuddly baby who actually lets me snuggle her (Maddox's idea of snuggling involves kicking, which is not so warm and cozy). I was struck with this straight to the heart this weekend, when we got rid of our high chair (sniff). Even though that thing was big, ungainly, and took up about 2/3s of our kitchen table (not to mention being impossible to clean), it meant she was really still just a baby. Now she's in the seat that attaches to the table. The good news is, after she's done eating, we just let her crawl around on the floor and she has a second meal with everything that's fallen down there. I think I'm going to be able to talk Al out of a dog, after all.

It's been almost a week

Not too much time and/or energy for blogging this week. Both kids have green snot running down their faces; Chava, at least, doesn't know to reject the Benadryl we give her at night so she's been sleeping reasonably well (after two torturous nights this weekend when we knew something was wrong but the cold hadn't yet declared itself). Maddox, on the other hand, is wise to our ways and spits the medicine back out when we force it down his gullet, resulting in nights like last night, when he was up every hour moaning/dreaming/snotting all over his pillow. Anyone want to lay money down on whether or not the bubble gum flavored Benadryl I picked up this a.m. will be more effective?

I'll try to post some pictures of the snot soon. Chava's is a particularly lovely shade.

New Pajamas

Seriously, if Carters made these in my size, I'd get a pair, too. They're fleece. And rockets. Maddox is in heaven. Even though he looks like he has some terrible spinal affliction in this picture.

Pizza night with the cousins

Maddox asks for "make my own pizza" every night. So we decided to invite Michela and Eli over so they could share their skills. Chava, of course, watched from the high chair.

Boys with big heads

Al and Maddox got the same helmet - Al in a large, Maddox in a small. Scary. Man, I'm glad I had a c-section with that boy.

We have splashdown!

Maddox peed in the potty twice on Monday.

p.s. Honestly, Al is not entirely naked in this picture.

A visit with RoRo, PuPu and Annie (we need a nickname for her)

The weekend consisted mainly of Chava being adored. This is a bird's eye view.

Chava took a liking to RoRo right away and especially liked trying to choke her while playing with Papa's ring.

Annie and PuPu were the most excellent hosts, per usual.
