Scenes from a day in the life
Maddox helped make dinner on Tuesday - pizza. He was so excited that he really wanted to eat the pizza before it was cooked; had to talk him down from that one. But it was tasty!
Chava does actually do things other than sit in her highchair and eat - it's just that the girlfriend moves so fast if she not buckled in, it's hard to catch her in action.
His fine motor skills keep progressing; I'm constantly amazed.

QUESTION
Maddox does seem to be feeling better about school, for the most part. So answer me this: why is he getting up at 1 a.m. every night like he's ready to rock and roll?!

School Update
We've been alternately entertained and driven crazy by Maddox this weekend. I might have found his 5 a.m. bellyaching funny had he not been up for the day after this conversation:
"Mommy, my tummy hurts. I don't think I should go to school today."
"It's Saturday, Moshe PuPu - that means it's a family day."
"Oh, okay. Can I have eggs for breakfast?"
On Saturday night, he had a hard time figuring out what was going to happen the next day. So, he started in with the whining,
"I really don't like when you leave me at school. I cry until you come back. I cry so loud so you can hear me."
lather, rinse, repeat.... I must have heard this 3,674 times before bedtime.
Every now and then he'll give us a little clue that he actually has some fun at school. Last night I noticed that he had a hole in his pjs - when I pointed it out to me, he told me that Peyton had a hole in her pants and she had on purple underwear! When I changed his diaper, he informed me that Mikayla calls it a "diapey."
But this morning the alligator tears were rolling. However, Al just called with the report - he is having a GREAT day.

Saturday
It was the much-anticipated Community Party at my office on Saturday. Maddox really enjoyed the pony rides last year so we had been talking about it all year. I guess Al is considering becoming the new "Croc Hunter" so he was seeing how Chava does as a croc baby. Maddox fell asleep mid-sentence in the car on the way home.

First Day of School
If I was a good mom, I'd have some beautiful pictures of a smiling Maddox, all decked out in his first-day-of-school clothes, standing in front of his school with an apple for his teacher. But I forgot the camera yesterday, and today he refused to be photographed, and Al and I are both too tired from the emotional upheaval (let's just say the transition is taking a bit out of us) and being up at 1 a.m. (when Maddox needed SOMETHING TO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!!!) to do anything about it. Maybe next week.

Mommys' Night Out
Susan and I checked in to the Westin on Sunday afternoon for a little shopping, drinking and talking. We were successful on all fronts... although I combined some alcohols that shouldn't ever get near each other. Of course, I forgot the camera and had to rely on my phone... with no flash.
From top to bottom: they didn't have a card to hang on your door that said "Two Exhausted Mothers Trying to Sleep" so we had to hang the one that said "Can't come to the door right now... I'm in heaven."
The birthday girl.
Our dessert sampler at Finale. They also brought Susan a birthday dessert on the house.... yah, we finished all of it.
