Field Trip!
Yesterday I went on a field trip to the beach with Maddox's class. Seriously exhausting. And, unfortunately for me, I don't sleep as well as the kids do with my head at a ninety degree angle.

Is it wrong that I want to eat her feet?
The best part is that Maddox discovered tonight that he could put Chava's shoes on for her. He does it complete with the cajoling voice we use to get her to do things we need her to do.... "C'mon, Chavie, look, your foot can go right in here." She is eminently patient with him while he figures it out and they are both so proud when both shoes are on her feet.

I've got the whole world in my hand
It was hot and steamy here yesterday. After naptime we packed up the kids to head to Lincoln (because the next best thing to living in Lincoln is having your brother and his family live in Lincoln and having that kind of relationship where you can invite yourself over to go to their pool any old time). Just as we parked the car in the pool parking lot we saw Cat and the kids heading out - thunder (Noah was at home with his Indian fever). We played on the playground for a while and then threw in the towel and headed to their house for dinner. When we arrived home we were all still hot and sticky so I jumped in the shower and Al handed each kid in, one at a time, for what is fondly known in our house as "a rinser." After I handed Chava back, I finished up with my kibbles and bits and then toweled off. There was something in the tub - I figured it was a leaf or a woodchip one of the kids had brought in with them, so I scooped it right up. And there I stood, holding human fecal waste in my hand.
(Just so you know, Maddox has clearly learned the "deny. Deny. DENY!" trick because when I asked if he had pooped he immediately said, "No, I didn't poop. It was CHAVA!!!")

goes under "there's a first time for everything"
Yeah, see that bead? That pink one? Maddox found it at the playground and wanted to bring it home to show Daddy. I was very specific about not putting it in his mouth (germs, ya know) but never thought to mention the nose. Which is where it was shoved, up so high I couldn't even catch a glimpse of it. This all happens in the car, mind you. So, I unload the kids (with Maddox screaming, out of fear or pain I don't know) and get them in to the house to try to get Maddox to blow it out. Have I mentioned that Chava has mastered blowing her nose but Maddox still hasn't? Well, we solved that problem today. I have to say we were all mighty impressed with the way the bead came shooting out of his nose, skittering across the kitchen floor.
Time for catchup, again
We had a great time on the 4th, especially at the Lincoln parade (Maddox is still chanting "Candy! Candy! We want candy!"). The is the only picture we have - snapped by one of Noah and Cat's friends. Chava actually was there, too.
Went to the Cape this past Sunday and had a fabulous day at the beach and the trampolines. Then had a horrific 3 hour ride home.
Maddox's weird rash finally drove us to the pediatrician on Monday afternoon and he was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Scary, but we are reassured it is totally treatable. Three weeks of pink medicine (his favorite).
Chava is talking more and more and her favorite word is "MINE". Anything she sees she wants, and it becomes "MINE". Anything Maddox has becomes "MINE". It's a wee bit tiring. Her boneless tantrums also exhaust us. Luckily, she seems to get that she is often pressing her luck because then she becomes so adorable I can barely stand it.
More pictures as soon as I upload them.
